Allergies and Anaphylaxis

Terrey Hills Public school is a NUT AWARE ZONE. This means that products containing nuts are not to be brought to school.

There are a number of students attending the school who have severe allergies to nuts and nut products. Nuts are the most likely food to cause anaphylaxis, which is severe and sudden allergic reaction. Anaphylaxis is potentially life threatening.

Although most life-threatening reactions are triggered by ingested foods, serious reactions may occur through skin contact, eye contact and inhalation of food particles. Common products that contain nuts include: peanut butter, nutella, sesame bars, muesli bars, trail mixes, satay sauce, many chocolates.
